Lawson State Community College Recognizes Summer 2021 Class of Line Worker Graduates

Birmingham, AL (08/20/2021) — Lawson State Community College recognized twelve students who successfully completed the nine-week Line Worker Training Program with a graduation ceremony on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

These are the following students acknowledged as the Line Worker Class of Summer 2021: Nathan Adams, Creed Graham, Dankieso (DJ) Hasselbring, Josiah Lester, Jonathan Locke, Jon Lollar, Tavion Means, Michael Rosato-Carpenter, Jesus Roman, Ray Square, Cameron Webb, and Eric Whetstone.

Also happening this week, all twelve graduates will take part in interviews with several companies like Alabama Power, line worker contractors, and other utility companies.

The Line Worker Training Program seeks to provide skilled/safe applicants for Alabama Power, line work contractors and other utility companies and enforces the college's effort to support and provide essential training needed for individuals to enter the workforce.

The graduating students received training in the following areas that will help them to complete the job duties of a utility worker: Safety, Pole Climbing, Basic Electricity, Working at Heights, Mechanized Equipment, Basic Line Construction, Interpersonal Skills, Resume Writing/Interviewing Skills, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class-A, OSHA-10, CPR, Ready-to-Work and MSSC safety as additional certifications obtained in the program.

Applications for the next Line Worker Training classes are being accepted now until September 1, 2021. Applications submitted during this time will be used in candidate selection for both our January 2022 and March 2022 training classes.
