LAWSON STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO HOST MILITARY AND VETERANS WORKSHOP THIS FEBRUARY

Scholarship will be awarded to a veteran, active military member or dependent who attends

Birmingham, AL (01/24/2023) — Today, exciting news has been shared that the Alabama Community College System Workforce Division will sponsor a $2,000.00 scholarship to be given to a veteran, active military member, or a dependent who attends the upcoming College, Career & Apprenticeship Workshop to be held at Lawson State Community College. The scholarship can be used for credit and non-credit programs at Lawson State, beginning with the Summer 2023 semester.

The college is close to a month away from hosting its workshop for Alabama's active-duty military and veterans thanks to a sponsorship from the Alabama Association of Resource Conservation and Development Councils (RC & D) through partnership with the ACCS.

Lawson State's Military and Veterans College and Career Workshop will take place on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Academic Success Center (3060 Wilson Road S.W., Birmingham, AL 35221) on the Birmingham West Campus.

The workshop will engage military active-duty, guardsmen, reservists, retirees, veterans and their dependents on the local services and programs available to them through Alabama's community colleges. These services include access to veteran's service officers, veteran's educational benefits, apprenticeships, career services, mental health support, and credentials.

Registration for the workshop at Lawson State is available here: https://lawsonstate.formstack.com/forms/accs_military_and_veterans_college_careers_and_apprenticeship_workshop
